This dress is designed to be oversized, with approximately 20–30 cm of positive ease in the smaller sizes, gradually decreasing in the larger sizes.
Skills: Cast on, knit in the round, increase, decrease, icord edge, kitchener’s stitch and bind off.
Yarn
A true artisan yarn with rich texture and vibrant personality, our Recycled Silk Sari Yarn is
a joy to work with. It adds a bold, one of a kind look to your projects full of character and
color.
Recycled Silk Sari: 5/6/6/6/7/7/8/8
Needles & notions
Circular needles 8 mm, 40, 60 & 100 cm.
2X 5 mm DPNs for i-cord.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Waste yarn or stitch holders for sleeves.
Stitch markers.
Tension gauge
Be sure to check your own tension before starting to knit. Cast on 12 stitches and knit 19
rows on needles size 8 mm for a 10 x 10 cm sample. If tension measures too tight, change to a thicker needle. If tension measures too wide, change to a thinner needle.
Good to know
This dress is knitted top-down in the round using one strand of Recycled sari silk. Begin at the neckline, then work the yoke with raglan increases. When the yoke is complete, separate stitches for sleeves and body. The body is worked in the round, and the neckline is finished with decreases and an i-cord edge.
Yarn quantities are approximate and based on average use.
I recommend you to alternate by working with two hanks at a time so the color blends
more evenly in the project. When you knit with both hanks at the same time, you simply
change them out in every other row. Here is a good example on how to do it if you’re not
familiar with the technique:
