Kid silk mohair version:

The Kid silk mohair version is perfect to put your leftover mohair to use. It’s also possible to knit the cardigan in solid color.

Kid silk mohair : 250-300 (250-300) 300- 350 (350- 400) 350- 400 (400- 450) gr

The kid silk mohair is held 3 strands alongside 1 strand of Angel lace.

Hand dyed Angel light lace from Thelma Steimann, the yarn is airy and light yarn with a mixture of 80% extra fine merino and 20% Silk. The yarn works perfectly as an alternative to silk mohair. Approx 100g / 800 m in each skein.

Yarn for hemline :

Kid silk mohair : 1 (1) 1 (1) 1 (1)

Circular needles 40 and 80 / 100 cm in 10 mm for the sweater

Circular needles 40 and 80 / 100 cm in 5 mm for the hemline, lining and cuffs

Tapestry needle to weave in the ends

Keeping cord or scrappy yarn to keep resting sts

Stitch markers

4x buttons size 26 mm

Thread and needle to sew the buttons

Tension gauge sample

Make sure to check your tension by creating a gauge swatch before starting your knit. Gauge: 11 stitches and 13 rows with Wild alpaca in height with stockinette with 10 mm needles for a 10 x 10 cm swatch. Everyone’s tension is different, so if your tension is too tight and your gauge swatch measures too little, change to a thicker needle. If your ten- sion is too loose and your gauge swatch is too wide, change to a thinner needle.

Good to know

The cardigan is knitted top down and mostly worked back and forth, except for the sleeves that are knitted in round. The yoke is knitted back and forth with an increase until the cardigan has the right width. The sleeves are then set aside at the armpits and the body completed first. Then the sleeves are knitted in the round from the armpits. The button holes are part of the inner edge and are knitted last.

Read the pattern through before you start your project.

If you are working with Wild alpaca:

I recommend you to alternate by working with two hanks at a time so the color blends more evenly in the project. When you knit with both hanks at the same time, you simply change them out in every second row (because you’re working back and forth). Here is a good example on how to do it if you’re not familiar with the technique:

If you are working with Kid silk mohair and want to create ombre fade look:

The kid silk mohair version is knitted with three strands of mohair at the same time. To create the perfect fade use the same color for all three (or some similar colors). When you run out of yarn or you feel like it’s time to change color, cut the thread and add the next color to play. But only cut one thread at the time, knit for a few rows before cutting the next one. If you change all colors at the same time, your leftover project will get stripes (that could also be another version of the cardigan) , but if you only go for one strand at every few rows, the colors fade more softly together.

Both Wild and the Kid silk version can be knitted in one solid color. You will need same amount of yarn.
